Outdoor Gates
The Brief
Advanced Design Innovations was engaged to design a stainless steel framed, timber-clad gate leading into a courtyard that provided entry to a private home.
The gate had to incorporate a laser-cut house number that would light up in the evening, and had to be integrated with a C-Bus lighting control system so that opening the gate at night would trigger outdoor lighting.
The Challenge
The driving constraint in the design of the gate was the thickness of the light that was required in the enclosure to illuminate the house number.
This governed the design of the stainless steel framework and determined how the timber cladding was mounted.
A standard door handle had to be modified to accommodate the increased thickness of the gate frame.
The Result
We delivered a clever, refined gate made from stainless steel and clad in grey box timber.
The gate incorporates the electrical controls needed to enable both timer-controlled lighting of the house number, and sensor-controlled lighting of the courtyard area
