Bike Pod ”Service Bay”
The Brief
The City of Melbourne is building a trial Bike Pod with shower and change facilities for cyclists to encourage more city workers to use this form of sustainable transport.
Advanced Design Innovations was engaged to do the detailed design of the services for the Bike Pod, including cold and hot water supply, discharge system, basins, showers, and air circulation systems.
The Challenge
Working within extremely tight available space, this project required a rigorous
– methodical approach to assembly, as all services had to be designed to allow disassembly and transportation as a “flat pack”.
The Result
Advanced Design Innovations developed a solution that worked successfully within the design constraints of the project.
Every component was meticulously designed to avert clashes and fouling issues prior to fabrication, and the entire project was designed to be easily disassembled and re-assembled.
